Sage Roofing South West was founded by Justin Sage in 2002, after he'd already spent more than two decades learning the trade — he started in roofing at sixteen. The business has grown carefully on word-of-mouth alone, and these days Justin still personally attends every initial site visit and oversees every job.
Kate runs the office side of things, so when you call you'll speak to one of the two owners — not a call centre. And yes, Elmo the dog is part of the team too.
From a single slipped tile to a full re-roof on a period property, we handle every aspect of pitched and flat roofing — including the tricky leadwork and detail others won't touch.
Full re-roofs in slate, clay and concrete tile. Modern breathable felts, new battens and full ridge systems — built to last decades, not seasons.
EnquireSingle-piece GRP flat roofs with a typical 25-year guarantee, plus traditional felt and EPDM systems for extensions, garages and dormers.
EnquireHand-formed code 4–6 leadwork around chimneys, valleys, dormers and parapets — including period and listed buildings. As shown on the Tockington Manor School project.
EnquireSlipped tiles, leaks, broken ridge, storm damage. Quick callouts across Bristol, full reports for insurers and direct claim handling where required.
EnquireSkylight and roof window installations done properly — flashings, kerbs and finishes that won't leak in five years' time. Ideal for loft conversions.
EnquireUPVC fascias, soffits and seamless guttering replaced or repaired. Stops the small problems that cause the big damage further down the line.
EnquireTell us where you are and what you've spotted. Justin will arrange a free site visit at a time that suits, take a proper look, and follow up with a clear written quote.
We don't display reviews on our own site — we let them sit where you can verify them, on Google, Yell and FreeIndex. Here's a flavour of what people have been telling us.
"Justin came out the same week, gave us an honest opinion and quoted on the spot. The team replaced our roof with no fuss, kept the place tidy every evening and finished bang on the day they said they would. Couldn't recommend them more highly."
"We had two other roofers quote for chimney leadwork and both wanted to rip half the roof apart. Justin took one look and said it was a flashing job, fixed it for a fraction of the price. That's the difference experience makes."
"Storm took half our flat roof off. I called Sage Roofing on the Monday morning, they were on site within hours to make safe and dealt with the insurer themselves. Brand new GRP roof three weeks later. Brilliant from start to finish."
"Re-roofed our 1920s semi with new slate. Kate kept us updated through the whole job, the team were polite and tidy, and the price didn't move from the original quote. Genuinely lovely people to deal with."
"Listed building, very particular conservation officer, and Justin handled all of it. The leadwork on the parapets and chimneys is properly traditional and looks like it's been there a hundred years. Would not use anyone else."
"Honest, on time, fair priced. Sage Roofing have done two jobs for us now — fascias and gutters last year, then the flat roof on the extension this spring. No drama, just good work. Already booking them for the next house."

No. Site visits and written quotes are completely free, with no obligation. Justin will come out, take a proper look (including up on the roof if it's safe to access), and follow up with a clear, itemised price.
Our main coverage area is Bristol and South Gloucestershire — Westbury, Henleaze, Clifton, Stoke Bishop, Almondsbury, Thornbury, Bradley Stoke, Yate, Patchway, Filton and surrounding villages. We also work on larger projects further into the South West. Just call and ask.
Yes — we take on a lot of insurance work, especially storm damage. We can write the report, deal directly with your insurer or loss adjuster, and carry out the repairs once they're approved. It saves you the back-and-forth.
For an average 3-bed semi, a strip-and-recover with new battens, felt, slates or tiles and ridge usually takes 5–8 working days, weather depending. Larger or more complex roofs (period properties, leadwork, dormers) take longer — we'll always give you a realistic timeframe upfront.

Yes. New roofs and GRP fibreglass installations come with manufacturer-backed guarantees (typically 25 years on GRP), plus our own workmanship guarantee. We're a local family-run business — we're still going to be here if you ever need us back.
